Marbling

Marble patterns created by floating colour on either water or a size solution which are then transferred to paper or fabric. The process is centuries old and was often used in bookbinding for decorative covers and endpapers. A form of mono printing where every print is unique. In Japan it is called Suminagashi ' floating ink'.
