Hog Hair Bristles

There are a few types of bristles one can use for oil painting - Hog’s hair bristle brushes are the most common as they are stiff and coarse enough to work with oil paints. Genuine hog’s hair bristles have a certain amount of split or flagged ends that allow them to hold a good amount of paint. The flagged ends also create a bit of texture in the brush stroke.
