Printmaking paper is externally sized allowing the paper to be pre-soaked (intaglio) and for the ink to sit on the surface (silkscreen, blockprinting). Inglewood Art carries Stonehenge, Arches Cover, BFK Rives and Somerset Satin papers that are most commonly used for prints, but are also some of the best drawing papers. Washi paper is also used in blockprinting and some chin colle techniques in intaglio (etching). Washi paper is Japanese paper processed by hand and made in the traditional manner using fibers from the inner bark of the gampi tree, the mitsumata or the paper mulberry (kōzo) bush. “Rice paper" is named as a wrapper for rice and is made from bark fibres of the paper mulberry tree. Rice paper is commonly used when referring to Washi paper.
